Transportation Manager

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:

o Leads and directs the Shipping Team to ensure all outbound freight is prepared and palletized in compliance with DC safety and quality standards. Ensures pallets are built, wrapped, labeled, and staged correctly, and that all freight is loaded onto assigned trailers according to load diagrams and securement requirements. Confirms all trailers are inspected, properly sealed, and ready for dispatch while maintaining efficient workflow, accuracy, and adherence to EHS and operational guidelines.

o Serves as the on call leader for all trailer temperature excursions, ensuring each incident is addressed promptly and fully resolved in alignment with established company policies and temperature excursion response protocols.

o Develops and implements transportation strategies that aim to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of products to various locations.

o Manages transportation budgets to ensure that costs are within parameters and support the organization's critical financial objectives.

o Coordinates with carriers to ensure deliveries are made on time and to the correct destinations.

o Ensures compliance with transportation regulations, safety standards, and relevant laws that govern the movement of pharmaceutical products.

o Works with other departments within the organization, such as inventory management, procurement, and logistics, to ensure integrated supply chain operations.

o Tracks and analyzes transportation performance metrics, such as delivery times, on-time performance, and transportation costs.

o Manages team performance through regular, timely feedback as well as the formal performance review process to ensure the delivery of exceptional services.

Education:

High School Diploma or General Equivalent Development (GED) - required

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of prior management experience in a distribution/manufacturing/Production environment
  • Minimum 3 years managing inventory control functions within a Distribution Center/Warehouse
  • Functional Knowledge and transactional experience with WMS systems
  • Experience managing Exempt colleagues
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees
  • Ability to multitask and collaborate in a fast-paced cross functional environment

Prior Relevant Work Experience:

Strong knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration (FMSCA) standards.

Experience with fleet management systems.

Proven ability to manage budgets and analyze transportation performance metrics.

Adept at execution and delivery (planning, delivering, and supporting) skills.

Adept at collaboration and teamwork.

Adept at growth mindset (agility and developing yourself and others) skills.

Excellent leadership and team management skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Union experience (Union Only locations)

Third party maintenance provider management.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in Transportation and Logistics (CLT).

Certified Transportation Manager (CTM).

Experience with fleet management systems, Samsara and Idelic.

Experience in the pharmaceutical industry.

Knowledge of environmentally sustainable transportation practices

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$54,300.00 - $119,340.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
