Supply chain Planner/ Buyer

General Summary

As a Supply Chain Planner/Buyer in a manufacturing environment, you will be responsible for maintaining an uninterrupted flow of materials to support production. This role requires a proactive approach to planning, purchasing, and coordinating materials especially critical components to avoid delays, minimize downtime, and meet customer demand efficiently.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Demand Forecasting: Analyze historical data and collaborate with sales and production teams to develop accurate forecasts and material plans.
  • Material & Component Purchasing: Review production schedules and Bill of Materials (BOMs) to identify required parts and procure them with urgency, especially critical and long-lead items.
  • Inventory & Availability Management: Ensure optimal inventory levels to avoid shortages or overstock, with a strong focus on maintaining supply of high-impact items.
  • Production Support: Act as a key liaison between purchasing and manufacturing, ensuring no material shortages disrupt production. React quickly to changes in demand or supply.
  • Supplier Management: Source, negotiate, and manage supplier relationships to secure reliable, on-time delivery. Expedite orders when necessary.
  • System & BOM Review: Regularly review and maintain accurate ERP data and BOMs to ensure timely ordering of all required components.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify supply chain risks and implement improvements to reduce cost, shorten lead times, and improve delivery performance.
  • Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with engineering, production, quality, and finance to align supply activities with operational needs.


Required qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.

2-5 years of experience in supply chain planning or buying in a manufacturing setting.

Strong ERP/MRP system experience (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite); ability to read and interpret BOMs and production orders.

Skilled in managing critical parts, lead times, and high-priority orders under tight deadlines.

Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge of lean manufacturing, JIT, and supply chain best practices.
