The selected individual will provide thermal engineering system requirement support for the analysis of spacecraft and
space-based instruments. The position will entail performing reviews and oversight of complex aero-space craft, spacebased
instruments, and landing components. Provide system functional design and integration support for space hardware
interfaces, through the development of the integrated element architecture through appropriate controlling documents and
deliverables.
Perform technical integration across NASA centers, diverse engineering and program organizations, and a variety of
engineering disciplines. Assist in the development strategic plans and negotiate resolution of open requirement and
thermal issues and concerns to ensure closure of TBDs, TBRs, etc. within the corresponding organizational schedule
allowance.
Supply inputs to key systems engineering products for milestones and provide technical insight for these reviews and
events. Assist in technical evaluations of verification closure data and rationale. Support the development and review of
key thermal system engineering products for project milestones as well as the maturation of these products.
This position provides leadership in support of various NASA Space System projects such as:
- Human Landing System (HLS) to deliver American astronauts - the first woman and next man on the Moon's south
pole
- The International Space Station (ISS) environmental variables controls
Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering or a degree in a related technical discipline synergistic with
system design is required. Degree from an ABET accredited university is preferred. Typically, educational requirements
are the equivalent of a Bachelors with at least 25+ years of relevant experience in Thermal engineering and integration,
interface definition, or interface requirement verification for complex systems.
An understanding of the thermal systems engineering life cycle ranging from requirements development, functional design,
hardware integration, and requirements verification is required.
An understanding of space flight thermal systems hardware and ground system interactions
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience developing and delivering technical briefings,
- Negotiation skills demonstrated through technical problem solving,
- Demonstrated ability to breakdown problems or issues into manageable pieces.
- Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, customer relation skills, and presentation skills are required.
- Skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook) are required
- Basic skills using requirement management database tools such as DOORS Next Generation are required
- Proficiency with thermal test set up support, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Experienced in thermal desktop
- Experienced in NX Team Center
- Experienced in thermal Testing
- Knowledge of orbital thermal environment development
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with NASA standards and MSFC Specifications

This position requires:
- Sitting for extended periods in meetings with peers, management, and with our client at NASA facilities to discuss

- Sitting for extended periods at a desk to draft test plans, analyze data, write reports and perform various engineering
tasks (60%).
Telework Requirements
This position may require:
- Ability to have sufficient home internet for extended periods in meetings with peers, management, and with our client at
NASA facilities to discuss technical issues.

tasks at a safe personal location.

This position requires:
- Ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, copier, calculator, and other general office equipment (100%).
Attendance
This position requires:
- Normal workday is from 7:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday.
- Minimal overtime may be required (10%) to meet schedule milestones and to support technical demands of the job.
- Regular attendance is a necessity and adequate arrangements for delegating duties during absences are required.
