Sr. Quality Engineer

Opportunity

This engineer's main objective is to successfully complete strategic and short-term projects which improve customer-experienced quality and the overall performance of the Union City Plant. The Project Engineer - Quality must be able to effectively lead cross-functional teams to drive larger projects. The Project Engineer - Quality must be able to train associates on changes to the Union City KQMS system.

The Product Engineer - Quality will deliver improved quality from suppliers, current product and new products, resulting in improved customer satisfaction and reduced costs for the Union City Plant.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Analyze, and lead key projects that improve Unit Failure Rate, Warranty Costs, Yield and Customer Satisfaction metrics for the Union City Plant.
  • Act as the primary Quality representative for New Product Development. Support NPD; especially in the identification of critical quality characteristics, manufacturability, process capability, product inspection and test, and process control plans.
  • Analyze and lead cross-functional teams that proactively identify and resolve emerging field issues. Communicate voice-of-customer issues effectively through the organization. Systematically implement corrective actions within customer service, product designs and plant controls.
  • Take responsibility for successful implementation of appropriate cost savings initiatives. Upon successful completion, ensure that metrics are created, and gains are held. Ensure all cost savings projects are tracked and properly reported.
  • Initiates and manages a wide range of structured problem-solving activities using problem solving methodologies.
  • Working with process owners lead efforts to move to paperless reporting of inspections.
  • Develop reports for management, make recommendations based on technical reviews and initiate corrective actions through data-driven methods to process and product improvement.
  • Support implementation of the Kohler Quality Management System. These efforts may include process reviews, Kaizen Events, Quality System development, deployment, and training.
  • Serve as quality representative on NPD and CPD activities.
  • Support plant's continued ISO certification through completion of internal audits and managing the internal auditing process.
  • Other responsibilities assigned by the Quality Manager.

Skills/Requirements

  • Requires a 4-year degree (technical field preferred) and at least four years of quality experience. Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel is required with proficiency in the MS Office Suite required. Training in Six Sigma and continuous improvement methodologies desired. Power App / Power BI development skills desired. Project and/or Program Management experience desired.
  • Able to communicate effectively with others and build credibility and rapport.
  • Able to act in solving problems while exhibiting judgment and a systematic approach to decision-making.
  • Able to lead cross-functional teams utilizing KOS (process improvement) methods.
  • Assertiveness and common-sense balancing both business and customer focus.

  • Works well with customers to understand and interpret product requirements.

The salary range for this position is $83,300 - $105,200. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
