Passionate about books and reading? The Books Discovery & Recommendations Experience team is transforming how millions of customers discover and engage with books across Amazon. We are looking for a Senior Technical Product Manager to own and drive strategic projects within our Books Personalization & Recommendations Team.
In this role, you will drive CX innovation, new product development, and experimentation for Books experiences worldwide. You'll lead efforts to optimize content selection and recommendation strategies across customer touchpoints. Partnering with product, engineering, and data science teams, you'll develop and refine content optimization approaches and front-end features that deliver increasingly personalized book recommendations to our customers. Your work will focus on developing scalable personalization frameworks that enable teams across Books to enhance every customer interaction. As a key member of the highly visible Content Demand team, you'll contribute to overall strategy and roadmap development while owning the day-to-day delivery of new experiments and features aimed at maximizing discovery and conversion.
The right candidate is highly analytical, will demonstrate strong business judgement and understand the science concepts (algorithms) powering personalization experiences. The role is both strategic and operational, and is a great fit for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and can think big while diving into the details to execute flawlessly. Successful candidates will have a track record of delivering technology products in a distributed and matrixed organization, through strong product management and problem-solving skills, and the ability to motivate, influence and collaborate effectively with global stakeholders.
Key job responsibilities
??? Develop data-driven frameworks to optimize content selection and recommendation strategies across key page placements, incorporating customer engagement signals, contextual relevance, and business objectives to maximize discovery and conversion.
??? Work backwards from customer problems to invent, incubate, and manage product and feature concepts that connect new and existing readers with books they love.
??? Lead the analysis of data and anecdotes to identify new opportunities aimed at improving customer discovery through recommendations
??? Write detailed product requirement documents defining use cases, features, and success metrics
??? Facilitate discussions regarding technical and architectural trade-offs in partnership with development teams
??? Help define product strategy and manage the product roadmap for Books personalization.
??? Communicate with senior management and other business/technical partners on product decisions, trade-offs, key results and durable learnings, program status and risks
??? Operate with significant autonomy to deliver results and achieve the goals and objectives of both your team and the broader organization.
About the team
The Amazon Bookstore team owns the customer experience for browsing, evaluating, and buying physical and digital books from a catalog of tens of millions of titles.
The ideal candidate is passionate about solving complex problems for customers. They can think big and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, and enjoy diving deep into both data and anecdotes to bring clarity to ambiguity. They are innovative, detail oriented, an effective communicator, and have a proven track record of delivering results by focusing on the most impactful work. They have a demonstrated history of success managing customer-facing technical products and have experience with browse and discovery, purchase flows, partner management, and are familiar with A/B testing practices.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - 5+ years of product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
- Experience with end to end product delivery
- Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product
- Experience managing technical products or online services
- Experience in representing and advocating for a variety of critical customers and stakeholders during executive-level prioritization and planning
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Experience in using analytical tools, such as Tableau, Qlikview, QuickSight
- Experience in building and driving adoption of new tools
- Master's degree in engineering, statistics, computer science, operations research, business analytics, information systems or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $235,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
