Sr. Electrical Controls Engineers at SDC are collaborative, detail-oriented individuals that are responsible for electrical controls design, programming and testing of automated equipment according to customer and internal specifications. We seek 10+ years experienced professionals proficient in PLC, HMI, robotics, vision system programming, and controls software development to drive our machine automation efforts.

What You'll Do:

  • Design, develop and implement advanced electrical control systems software for automation machinery including:

- Electrical and Control system design

- PLC & HMI programming (Allen-Bradley preferred)

- Robotic Programming for automation applications

- Industrial Machine Vision Systems for part inspection and quality control

  • Specify and integrate automation hardware including robots, motion controllers, grippers, sensors, load cells and lasers, to complete a variety of required tasks.
  • Troubleshot and resolve control system challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage assigned projects to maintain on-time and on-budget machine deliveries.
  • Assist Mechanical Engineering team with development and cross-over automation technologies, including robotics, pneumatics, servo motion systems and vision systems.
  • Support machine assembly, de-bug, acceptance testing, on-site installation, startup, and support and customer training.


What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering related field required.
  • 10+ years senior level electrical engineering experience
  • Extensive hands-on experience in:

- PLC and HMI programming

- Servo control and motion systems

- Electrical design for automation systems

- Machine vision systems and robotics

  • Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, LabView, MatLab, microcontrollers or robotic programming a plus.
  • Strong decision making, communication, and project coordination skills.
  • Ability to travel to support projects, up to 10%.
