Senior Commissioning Engineer - Fairless Hills, PA What this job involves
JLL is seeking an experienced Senior Commissioning Engineer to provide leadership and technical expertise to our Commissioning & Building Analytics (CBA) team. This position will be on site in Fairless Hills, PA, and will be a 12 month minimum project. This senior role involves managing complex commissioning projects, mentoring team members, and serving as the primary technical authority on challenging assignments. The position requires collaboration with executive-level stakeholders, strategic decision-making, and the ability to drive process improvements while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
Your day-to-day tasks will include:
- Leading and overseeing multiple complex commissioning projects simultaneously through all project phases
- Developing and implementing advanced commissioning strategies that align with ASHRAE, CSA, and LEED requirements
- Serving as the technical authority for complex mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and control systems
- Mentoring junior team members and providing technical guidance to project teams
- Conducting peer reviews of commissioning documentation and field activities
- Building and maintaining relationships with key clients and stakeholders
- Developing custom commissioning solutions for unique or specialized building systems
- Participating in business development activities and proposal preparation
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of commissioning processes and methodologies
Desired experience and technical skills Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent professional designation
- LEED AP certification
- Minimum 15 years of relevant engineering experience with at least 10 years focused on building commissioning
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing commissioning teams and complex projects
- Advanced knowledge of building systems including mission-critical facilities
- Expertise in commissioning standards, best practices, and emerging technologies
- Advanced proficiency with testing equipment and methodologies for complex systems
- Exceptional communication skills with experience presenting to executive-level clients
- Ability to travel up to 50% to client sites across the USA
- Strong project management skills with experience managing substantial project budgets
Preferred:
- Multiple professional certifications (CxA, CBCP, CPMP, CEM)
- Experience commissioning specialized facilities (data centers, laboratories, healthcare)
- Advanced knowledge of building automation systems and integration
- Experience with energy optimization strategies and performance verification
- Published works or presentations at industry conferences
- Experience developing and conducting technical training programs
- International project experience
- Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese
- Experience with sustainability initiatives beyond LEED
- Background in energy modeling or building analytics
- Experience with emerging technologies such as IoT, digital twins, or AI applications for building systems
