Summary:
Prepares aircraft furniture for finish and disassembly using blueprints, specifications, and engineering drawings.
Performs high-quality repairs to various finished surfaces in the shop and on aircraft; cleans and polishes as needed to prepare furniture for delivery.
Applies finishes using spray equipment and manual/mechanical methods.
Uses sandpaper, polishes, adhesives, masking materials, solvents, finishing materials, hand tools, and power tools to disassemble and finish furniture.
Complies with all safety protocols, 5S, and housekeeping policies.
Uses appropriate PPE to protect aircraft interiors.
Utilizes material tracking systems to create part demands, track discrepancies, and sign off work.
Collaborates with leads and senior technicians to identify and implement process improvements that enhance safety, reduce costs, and optimize efficiency using Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement techniques.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required
Minimum of 2 years of experience in wood finishing
Aerospace industry experience preferred
Basic knowledge of cabinet finishing processes and products
Working knowledge of inspection and process specifications.
Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
Ability to climb ladders and stairs, work in confined spaces, lift up to 40 pounds, and work any shift.
Computer literacy required.
Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).
