The Job

Eckert & Ziegler Isotope Products seeks a Receiving Inspection Technician I to join our team. The Receiving Inspection Technician I is responsible for receiving and inspecting parts and hazardous material shipments in accordance with 49 CFR and IATA regulations. Receives incoming material and distributes the items to proper departments. Responsible for all other regular shipping/receiving duties, and Quality Control as assigned by the Quality Systems Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Conduct receiving inspection of parts and returns.
  2. Shipping of parts and hazardous materials.
  3. Coordinate receivables with Quality, Sales, Customer Service, and Production.
  4. Ensure that all daily receivables are processed and logged.
  5. Ensure that all incoming product returns are leak tested and processed by the Calibration Lab.
  6. Maintain cleanliness and safety in the receiving, stockroom, and packaging areas.
  7. Enter disposition of incoming parts after inspection is completed.
  8. Receive incoming parts and forward parts and receipts to the inspection department.
  9. Receive incoming shipments in the ERP system and verify the packing list against the return authorizations.
  10. Send customer acknowledgment receipts of their returns.
  11. Contact customers as needed to process their product returns.
  12. Maintain Returns database, receiving logs, and ERP logs.
  13. Process packaging for the return of products to customers and ensure that all packaging meets regulations.
  14. Administration support including filing, copying, editing, and collating documents and retrieval records.
  15. Quality Control (Back-up)
    1. Performs inspection for accuracy and legibility on all engravings performed in-house or by outside vendors, as appropriate.
    2. Aids in conducting dimensional QC on components manufactured in-house or by outside vendors, as appropriate.
    3. Performs inspections of products prior to Shipping
  16. Serve as back up to QA/QC Technicians, as necessary.
  17. Travel may be required at various times between Burbank and Valencia facilities
  18. Performs other duties as required by management.

Requirements:

  1. Minimum education (or substitute experience) required: High School Diploma.
  2. Minimum experience required: Minimum two years' experience in receiving inspection and shipping and receiving.
  3. Abilities and skills required:
  • Ability to travel and work in Burbank and in Valencia.
  • Shipping and handling of hazardous materials.
  • Basic math skills
  • Knowledge and use of ERP systems or similar databases.
  • Knowledge of ALARA (a plus)
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of FedEx, UPS, and carrier shipments.
  1. Knowledge of Word and shipping database.
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize workload.
  1. Able to lift 50 pounds.
