Job Title: Raw Material Buyer
Department: Sourcing
Reports to: Sr. Manager - Strategic Sourcing Pet Raw Material
Location: Onsite, Oak Creek, WI
Essential Functions Include:
- Coordinates and arranges materials necessary to support production plans for multiple plant locations
- Be the key contact representing Sourcing for multiple locations
- Manage the strategic buying of secondary raw materials and indirect goods as directed.
- Negotiate pricing with suppliers and research/source new suppliers for assigned categories
- Confirms appropriate production requirements are being met though specifications and vendor qualification compliance
- Works with the operations across multiple plant locations to maintain effective relationships
- Generate and monitor purchase orders to support the material and buying requirements as assigned
- Support on quality and service issues where required
- Manage and maintain product specifications and descriptions in cooperation with R&D and QA.
- Assist team members with various projects/tasks as identified
- Provide regular reviews to suppliers and partners to find ways to drive out unnecessary costs
- Support R&D in the development of new products with samples and product knowledge
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications Include:
- Requires a bachelor's degree or at least 5 years of experience in a similar role and field.
- Experience with Pet Raw Material buying a plus but not mandatory.
- Experience in food or beverage industry also a plus
- Thorough working knowledge of purchasing policies, processes, and procedures.
- Understanding of warehouse and inventory control policies and procedures
- Strong Excel capabilities a plus as well as experience with Microsoft Just Foods ERP - Purchasing Agent Dynamics 365

- The job is performed under occasional temperature variations and in a food manufacturing production environment.
- Need to travel up to 15% of time
