Position Summary

The Rate & Pricing Specialist plays a key role in supporting both Sales and Operations by delivering accurate and competitive pricing for international air and ocean freight consignments (import and export). This position is responsible for preparing cost analyses, creating customer quotes, and maintaining strong carrier and partner relationships. A strong customer service focus and attention to detail are essential to ensuring profitable and successful business outcomes.



Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with Sales to respond to new and existing business opportunities.
  • Collect and analyze shipment data to prepare accurate cost analyses for air and ocean freight (import and export).
  • Evaluate costs and establish profit margins to prepare competitive quotes that win business.
  • Prepare and deliver accurate, timely, and competitive quotes directly to customers.
  • Liaise with air carriers, trucking vendors, and overseas partners to obtain competitive rates and maximize profitability.
  • Maintain and update existing tariffs as required.
  • Monitor and communicate rate and service changes internally to ensure accurate final pricing.
  • Build and maintain strong carrier and partner relationships to support Radiant's service requirements.
  • Draft and manage requests for rate correspondence with overseas agents and follow up as needed.
  • Coordinate with Sales, Operations, and Billing to ensure customer pricing agreements are followed through each shipment.
  • Provide updates on quote statuses to customers and management.
  • Prepare cost and sales evaluations for profit reporting.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills in all customer and internal interactions.



Qualifications

Education & Industry Knowledge

  • High school diploma/GED required; related trade certifications preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, International Trade, or Transportation & Logistics is an asset.
  • Minimum 2 years of international freight forwarding experience (air and ocean).
  • Familiarity with freight forwarding operating systems (e.g., CargoWise, SAPTM, Gateway) preferred.
  • Knowledge of export regulations, documentation requirements, and pricing methodology preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of global geography; government project experience a plus.

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to follow established procedures while contributing to process improvement.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Strong teamwork, collaboration, and respect for colleagues.
  • Solid mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals).

Work Schedule

  • Shift Schedule
  • Monday - Friday: 5:30 AM - 2:00 PM
  • Set working hours of 8 hours per day with requisite meal and rest breaks.
  • Consistently report to work on time, prepared to perform required duties.
  • Ensure work responsibilities are covered when absent.

Physical Demands

  • Regular physical demands: Walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel; use fingers for keyboarding; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
  • Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

  • Usually moderate noise level.
  • Climate controlled office environment.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to an individual's education, work experience, skills, and job-related knowledge. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.


Other compensation includes, but is not limited to, bonuses, commissions, or stock options.
