Program Director Nonclinical Service Line - Supply

Summary:

The Program Director Nonclinical Service Line will be responsible for providing management and development of the Service Lines listed below while providing support for the implementation of various categories identified by the internal Supply Chain team, hospitals, system markets, or CHRISTUS Health's current GPO. This role will represent the service line expertise to all CHRISTUS Health facilities and staff, including C-Suite, clinicians, and facility management, as applicable. The Program Director Nonclinical Service Line is responsible for adhering to the current sourcing and contracting processes, RFP development, supplier negotiations and developing fully executed contracts. The Program Director Nonclinical Service Line will also be responsible for the continued management of awarded suppliers. The Program Director Nonclinical Service Line must be a self-sufficient person who can interpret system and facility needs, effectively manage projects from beginning to end, translate objectives, execute outcomes and present project deliverables to local and system directors and executives.

Responsibilities:

  • Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
  • Follows the CHRISTUS Health guidelines related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) designed to prevent or detect unauthorized disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Serves as the subject matter expert to all CHRISTUS Health facility department directors, C-Suite, physicians, and facility management.
  • Utilizing knowledge of healthcare food, nutrition, and catering trends, oversee the development of the service line strategic priorities and operational policies/procedures, with a focus on best practices in food quality, efficiency in production, best sanitation, food cost controls, food presentation, etc.
  • Aligns efforts within CHRISTUS Health to identify opportunities for standardization and sourcing initiatives.
  • Assists in identifying and implementing CHRISTUS Health Supply Chain System Standards.
  • Applies knowledge of clinical nutrition, with emphasis on the needs of various levels of acute care patients, to all policy development and decision making for the service line.
  • Establishes, tracks, and monitors service line performance objectives - qualitative and quantitative - and reports these quarterly to the team and System Director.
  • Identifies service line cost reduction opportunities on an ongoing basis.
  • Develops, maintains, and updates the service line projects on annual project/work plans.
  • Drafting, negotiating, redlining, and management of agreements.
  • Provides leadership and development of ad hoc value analysis teams, as applicable, to select and implement strategies for cost reduction, supplier consolidation, quality improvements, and process efficiencies.
  • Responsible for developing service line strategic sourcing initiatives including, but not limited to, standardization, utilization, etc.
  • Collaborates in the short - and long-term strategic planning process to identify local, regional, and system sourcing opportunities.
  • Partners with the Clinical Service Line Directors, as applicable, and the sourcing team to develop the initiative strategy, clinical requirements, category-specific terms and conditions, and KPIs for Request for Proposal (RFP) submissions.
  • Oversees contract negotiation of RFP terms and conditions with suppliers and summarizes proposal results.
  • Oversees service line's performance improvement initiatives in preparation for Joint Commission, DNV, health department inspections, and any other regulatory agency requirements.
  • Collaborates with the finance team to provide meaningful analytics and cost impact analyses supporting award recommendations.
  • Follows the contract checklist and contract launch package process upon contract award.
  • Responsible for specific sourcing initiatives, including opportunity identification, supplier negotiation, and delivering fully executed contracts.
  • Manages and tracks category conversions and implementation processes as applicable.
  • Manages outsourced FANS partner's performance through regular review, stakeholder feedback, and performance planning at both the hospital and system level.
  • Collaborates with various levels of management, key stakeholders, hospital executives, internal customers, and suppliers to identify business needs and develop solutions.
  • Identifies opportunities for custom contracts to fill gaps and increase contract coverage for the CHRISTUS Health System.
  • Sets and achieves savings targets for service line working with GPO (Group Purchasing Organization).
  • Represents CHRISTUS on the GPO Committees as applicable.
  • Designs and creates charts, graphs, tables, and reports to support findings and develop recommendations.
  • Manages strategic relationships and participates in quarterly business reviews with suppliers.
  • Cultivates and develops both new and existing relationships in the facilities.
  • Leads in establishing departmental programs, which promote and emphasize the commitment to exceptional customer service standards.
  • Ability to translate objectives and tasks into priority project planning and manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to understand and manipulate financial analysis.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Ability to work on assignments independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Meeting deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to travel frequently for meetings, team support, and project oversight.
  • Other - Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • Five (5) or more years of contract negotiating experience in a hospital setting, a healthcare company, or working with a healthcare IDN or GPO required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience managing a specified service line sourcing events and drafting, redlining, and negotiations of specific service lines contracts.
  • Extensive experience negotiating and drafting favorable contract terms and competitive pricing with top medical device/product manufacturers and/or service providers.
  • Experience with formal solicitations, including bids and requests for proposals.
  • Develops, manages, and maintains food service policies, procedures and standards.


Job Requirements:

Education/Skills

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Proficient in using the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Experience

  • Five (5) or more years of contract negotiating experience in a hospital setting, a healthcare company, or working with a healthcare IDN or GPO required.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience managing a specified service line sourcing events and drafting, redlining, and negotiations of specific service lines contracts.
  • Extensive experience negotiating and drafting favorable contract terms and competitive pricing with top medical device/product manufacturers and/or service providers.
  • Experience with formal solicitations, including bids and requests for proposals.
  • Extensive experience overseeing and managing a Food and Nutrition Services (FANS) program within a large healthcare system.
