PROCUREMENT SUPERVISOR

Position Summary: The Procurement Supervisor adds value to BAPI and Materials Team through responsibility for overseeing day-to-day purchasing operations, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of raw materials, components, and services required for manufacturing. This role leads a team of buyers or procurement specialists, supports vendor management, and ensures adherence to company policies, quality standards, and delivery timelines.

Procurement Supervisor Principle Responsibilities:


Procurement Oversight:

  1. Supervise daily procurement activities, including requisition review, purchase order creation, and order follow-up
  2. Collaborate with production planning, inventory, and engineering teams to ensure material availability aligns with production schedules
  3. Source, evaluate, and manage suppliers to ensure optimal cost, quality, and delivery performance
  4. Select vendors, negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts
  5. Ensure compliance with internal procurement policies, quality standards, and applicable regulations
  6. Address supplier issues such as delays, shortages, and non-conformance in a timely manner
  7. Maintain accurate records in ERP systems and monitor open orders, lead times, and delivery schedules to ensure just-in-time (JIT) delivery and minimal downtime
  8. Support cost reduction and supply chain improvement initiatives
  9. Train and mentor procurement staff and support performance reviews

Reporting

  1. Monthly updates on supplier key performance indicator metrics
  2. Updates as required on supplier scorecards
  3. Supplier corrective action and root cause countermeasures
  4. Daily exception report
  5. Follows Instructions for participation in inventory counts
  6. Depending on the area assigned, it is expected that during inventory the employee will accurately count parts, correctly document quantity counted, and may also audit counts of others or help scanning product

Maintains industry knowledge by attending educational workshops or classes; reviewing related publications; establishing networks.

Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed, including special projects and tasks as delegated supervisor.



Requirements:

Education Requirements (R/Required, P/Preferred):

(P) Bachelor's Degree

Degrees Preferred: Supply Chain, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)


Training, Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Specific Training in this field (R/Required, P/Preferred):

  1. (R) Working knowledge of transportation regulations, trade compliance, and international shipping practices
  2. (R) Proficient with ERP and logistics systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, WMS/TMS)

Experience/Knowledge in this field (R/Required, P/Preferred):

  1. (R) 3+ years of procurement experience within a manufacturing environment
  2. (R) Supervisory or team leadership experience
  3. (R) Strong negotiation, communication, and supplier relationship management skills
  4. (R) Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, BOMs, and supply chain operations
  5. (R) Familiarity with sourcing, contract management, and quality requirements
  6. (P) Certifications such as CPM, CPSM, or APICS CPIM/CSCP are a plus
  7. (P) Data Analytics experience

General Experiences/Knowledge/Skills:

  1. Strong attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills
  2. Exceptional communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate respectfully, culturally competent and collaboratively
  3. Excellent Ability to communicate in verbal, written and electronic forms in a professional manner when working with employees, vendors and company contacts
