A well-established medical device client of ours within the Twin Cities is seeking a
Principal Nitinol Engineer to be a technical lead over the nitinol business unit within their organization. Candidates should have an extensive background within medical device manufacturing especially within the nitinol space. This direct hire role will be based out in the Twin Cities Metro Area.
Job Title: Principal Nitinol Technical Lead Engineer
Location: Fridley, MN
Salary: 125-160k
Position Responsibilities: - Lead and execute design & development activities across the product development lifecycle
- Create detailed technical execution plans with the client and internal project team
- Lead customer interactions on technical deliverables comfortably and confidently
- Lead activities for concept generation and selection with strong technical problem-solving skills
- Mentor engineers on the team to conduct engineering analysis on designs, concepts, and the associated research
- Lead and monitor documentation practices for requirements, design output, design verification, and testing using client and/or customer's QMS
- Communicate complex information concisely and clearly to all levels of collaborators, including customers, team members, and others across various functional areas
- Mentor less experienced engineers throughout project execution
- Facilitate and make technical decisions on projects (e.g. vendor selection, critical to quality on the design, concept selection, etc.)
Position Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field required, master's degree in Engineering or related technical field helpful
- Minimum of 12 years of relevant work experience required, including specific experience with nitinol (material properties, laser cutting, post processing, shape setting, testing, etc.)
- Well established knowledge of multiple engineering functional areas (e.g. product development, test, modeling, process, etc.)
- Experience and knowledge in Use of nitinol components in medical devices plus
- Independently applies knowledge of the methodology for process/design selection
- Able to communicate complex technical concepts to broad audiences and customers
- Consistently demonstrates creativity in applying engineering principles to solve complex problems
- Able to make data driven decisions utilizing statistical tools such as DOE, tolerance stack-up analysis, or Minitab
- Strong independent problem-solving skills and actively works to coach others in this area
- Proficient with new technology development
- Capable of creating a plan to solve complex technical problems and lead others to resolution
- Actively, informally or formally coaches and mentors less experienced engineers
- Has established cross-functional relationships and is able to influence to drive results
- Clearly communicates need for continuous improvement and champions change within the organization
