Summary Reporting to the Team Leader and Line Leader, the Packing Operator is responsible for operating the packaging machinery and/or any other applicable machinery. The Packing Operator will also work closely and provide backup as needed to the Team Leader in order to ensure the packaging line produces a consistent product in a timely manner that meets all standards.
In this position you will work in a team environment led by a Team Leader. You will support your Team Leader by demonstrating and practicing teamwork every day and respect all your fellow Team Members.

Responsibilities
- Assists the Team Leader in fostering an environment of mutual respect and teamwork.
- Leads, coaches, mentors and trains other Team Members as needed by the Team Leader.
- Verifying proper packaging materials and ensuring proper product is being placed within the packaging.
- Operates and manages labelling machine efficiently.
- Responsible for controlling Critical Control Point (Date Coder, Metal Detector, UV Light, etc.).
- Ensures Operations Management System (OMS) procedures are being followed (entering inventory into the operating system).
- Follows VQS (visual quality standards).
- Ensures that a safe working environment is maintained at all times by enforcing FGF standards & following up on inspections.
- Reports any equipment malfunctions to the appropriate parties.
- Cleans up the area during and after shift is over.
- Supports return to stock and returns packaging materials after production is done.
- Follows all GMP's and Safety Procedures as outlined by FGF.
- May be asked by Shift Leader to perform general labor duties when needed as well as be assigned additional duties.
Requirements
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment (food/bakery experience is desirable).
- Accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to detect the presence of a quality issue.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Physically capable of performing the demands of the role including frequently lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to move from one task to another with minimal distraction.
- Flexible to work days, afternoons, nights & weekends if needed.
