Here at Wegmans, our department managers manage the team who is responsible for receiving product and delivering store orders safely and efficiently to service our stores. What You'll Do
- Lead, develop, and support a team by building strong relationships and providing feedback, resources, and growth opportunities
- Partner across functions (Operations, Transportation, QA, Support, Stores) to drive operational excellence
- Collaborate with peers and leadership to achieve business goals; communicate financials and performance metrics
- Champion product quality by enforcing food safety standards, cold chain compliance, and freshness
- Leverage distribution knowledge to reduce waste and improve efficiency
- Drive initiatives to deliver products to stores quickly and efficiently; resolve escalated issues
- Oversee daily operations of the team to prioritize on-time delivery and accuracy
- Partner with leadership to resolve problems and set business goals as needed
- Stay current on industry practices; identify continuous improvement opportunities involving people, processes, technology/systems and tools
- Monitor the work areas for safety concerns ensuring employees remain safe
Requirements
- 3 or more years of leadership experience managing a large team
- Ability to manage a team within a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal and customer service abilities
- Experience managing inventory
- Highly organized and process-drive
- Systems aptitude, including Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a distribution and/or manufacturing environment, including use of ordering systems
- Knowledge of food safety procedures
- Bachelor's degree in business, operations, supply chain management or related field
