OFFICER-IN-CHARGE (OIC) IV JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary

The Officer-in-Charge (OIC) IV is responsible for ensuring the safety and protection of a company's employees, visitors, and associated property. The OIC serves as shift supervisor or lead officer at designated areas, responding to safety and security threats, and establishing a security presence.

Essential Functions

• Assume overall responsibility for the safety and security of designated areas;
• Ensure Security Officers report to work on time and are responsive in meeting
• Client expectations;
• Schedule Security Officers according to client needs;
• Review and recommend pay rates for Security Officers;
• Ensure Security Officers are professional in their appearance according to uniform guidelines;
• Ensure Security Officers clock in and out appropriately;
• Patrol designated areas in accordance with outlined security procedures;
• Identify potential security risks and respond accordingly;
• Complete incident reports and required documentation for all security incidents;
• Ensure all employees and visitors have proper credentials for accessing buildings (ID badges and passes);
• Respond to emergencies and incidents within designated areas promptly and according to policy;
• Assist employees and visitors with any concerns they might have;
• Escalate emergency situations to law enforcement as needed;
• Monitor alarms and security cameras;
• Communicate with the Client as appropriate to meet expectations;
• Interact with employees and guests of professional in a respectful yet firm manner;
• Deliver on Safehaven Security Group foundational values;

Supervisory Responsibility

Supervise up to ten Security Officers.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Demands

Extensive walking to observe activities on the properties is a big part of our responsibilities. Security Officers must be physically able to stand, walk, climb, and descend stairs and ramps, use elevators, use smartphones, smartphone apps, computers, radios, and other physical activities for long periods of time.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work will vary based upon scheduling and Client/Site needs.

Travel

Limited travel between job sites.

Required Education and Experience

• A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
• Previous security-related work experience preferred
• Working knowledge of basic security techniques

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Ability to stay levelheaded and respond quickly in stressful situations
• Proficient written and oral communication skills
• Comfortable kneeling, carrying, bending, walking, and standing for extended periods of time
• Ability to perform continuous physical exertion as needed
• Reading, writing, speaking, and understanding. English is a requirement.
• Must be able to work holidays if needed.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable)

• All Officers must obtain applicable state credentialing.
• Ability to pass state and FBI background checks is required. Any felony and most Class A misdemeanors disqualify applicants even if the charge was expunged.
• Must be able to pass a 10-panel drug screening.

At least 3 years of Leadership & Supervisory Experience

Background in Military, Law enforcement, or Corrections preferred

Ability to multitask

Ability to handle high stress situations

Strong Interpersonal Skills to communicate at every level

Must Pass Background Requirements for State Credentialing.
