Position Summary:

This position is responsible for reinforcing and enhancing the Company's Safety Culture by ensuring that safety, health, and environmental programs are compliant and effective in providing a safe workplace. The role reports directly to the Corporate Safety Manager and will be primarily based at the Rochester, MN site (initially about 50%, increasing to approximately 70% over time) while also partnering with the Sauk Rapids, MN site (initially about 50%, decreasing to approximately 30% over time).


Responsibilities:

  • Reinforce and build upon the existing Safety Culture by ensuring compliance and effectiveness of safety, health, and environmental programs.
  • Partner with HR Safety team at Sauk Rapids to ensure alignment and compliance.
  • Lead safety training programs (new hire and ongoing) for topics such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Machine Guarding, Electrical Safety, and other OSHA-required areas.
  • Conduct and lead safety meetings and inspections across both sites.
  • Oversee incident reporting and investigations, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Manage OSHA reporting and maintain compliance documentation.
  • Lead the Safety Team and collaborate on Process Safety Management (PSM) initiatives.
  • Serve on and support the HAZMAT/Emergency Response Team.
  • Coordinate and/or conduct safety training on topics such as:
  • Hazard Communication, PPE, Bloodborne Pathogens, Confined Space Entry, PIT, Fall Protection, First Aid/CPR, Fire Safety.
  • Maintain OSHA 300 Log and Workers' Compensation claims.
  • Support compliance with MNSHARP and participate in audits.
  • Administer Driver Qualification Program for DOT compliance.
  • Maintain employee safety records.
  • Assist with organizing plant safety meetings and wellness activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Travel Requirements:

  • Initially, approximately 50% travel between Rochester and Sauk Rapids sites to establish relationships and gain operational knowledge.
  • Over time, travel will decrease to 25-30% (roughly one week per month, about 4 nights away; could be less).
  • Travel at first may be higher; Sauk Rapids is approximately a 2.5-hour drive from Rochester.
Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Related safety, health, and environmental experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, state Workers' Compensation laws, and incident investigation processes.
  • Expertise in Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Machine Guarding, and Electrical Safety.
  • Proven experience in developing and delivering safety training programs.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Familiarity with Food Safety/USDA requirements.
  • Ability to assess and mitigate potential hazards effectively.
  • Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) and emergency response protocols.
  • Certified or able to be certified in CPR and First Aid.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to read, write, and understand instructions in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Willingness to travel as outlined (initially up to 50%, then 25-30%).

Preferred

  • 10-hour/30-hour OSHA General Industry certification.
  • Strong working knowledge of Minnesota AWAIR Program and Ergonomics Statute.

Benefits Overview

Competitive base salary ($75,000 - $90,000 annual annually). Base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Full benefits package, including medical/ vision/ dental/life insurance, 401(k) with company match, and paid time off. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including an annual incentive program based on individual and company performance.
