Member Advocate III

Canopy Credit Union is looking for a purpose driven individual to join our creative community as a Member Advocate III at our Downtown Branch.

Hourly wage: $26 to $31/hr DOE + monthly incentives (Bi-lingual candidates will receive a $1 per hour wage premium)


As a Member Advocate III at Canopy, your focus will be on serving members and their requests in consumer lending, home equity loans and lines of credit, account opening, and financial coaching. The Member Advocate III also serves as a mentor for team members in the branch and across the organization. While this position reports directly to the Branch Manager, the person in this role will serve as the manager on duty in the absence of the Branch Manager.

Requirements:

Experience

2-5 years of similar or related experience


Education/Certifications/Licenses

High school education or GED


Interpersonal Skills

A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogue, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance.


Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for delivery of most Credit Union products and services to new and existing members: taking loan applications, financial coaching, home equity lines of credits, opening and closing deposit accounts, ITM services, online banking, etc., including completing appropriate documents and taking initial deposits
  • Interview loan applicants in person and by phone, gathering required information for credit application, explaining loan options, rates, terms and collateral requirements, provide general and specific loan information and disburse funds accordingly
  • Responsible for delivering HELOC products to members and non-members
  • Responsible for offering and delivering financial coaching session to members at the assigned branch
  • Act as a mentor to new hires and other employees throughout their career
  • Responsible for leading trainings of other member service employees on topics related to the job
  • Other duties as assigned by the Branch Manager
