Our client, a performance automotive fabricator, is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join their team. As a Mechanical Designer, you will be part of the Design Engineering Team supporting Manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in creating auto-body designs with Creo CAD software and possessing advanced skills in surfacing design work. Candidates will also benefit from prior practical use of Windchill CAD admin software and past work with designing with plastics or high-tech composite materials. Our client will not support candidates requiring visa restrictions. This is a long-term contract to direct hire role. The firm will not be supporting relocation costs so candidates from the Milwaukee metropolitan area will be given the strongest considerations.
Job Title: Mechanical Designer-Surfacing
Location: Twin Lakes, WI
Pay: $38-45/hr. plus OT, benefits

Key Responsibilities

  • Create detailed 3D models and surface geometry using CREO (version 10) with a strong emphasis on advanced surfacing and A surface quality work.
  • Develop designs for composite and plastic components, ensuring manufacturability, performance, and longevity.
  • Support body design projects for race cars, including aerodynamic surfaces, exterior bodywork, and complex assemblies.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and project teams throughout the full design lifecycle.
  • Revise, optimize, and manage CAD data in both CREO and SolidWorks environments.

Requirements
  • Strong CREO experience, specifically with surfacing tools (beyond basic extrude/cut functionality).
  • Proven ability to create complex A type surfaces and high quality curvature controlled geometry.
  • Hands on experience with composite materials (ideal) or plastics (acceptable if surfacing skills are strong).
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks.
  • Background in automotive, motorsports, composites, industrial design, or similar industries involving advanced surfaces.
