SJS Industrial is a veteran owned media blasting, industrial painting, powder coating, and light fabrication shop in Virginia Beach, VA, that serves military and maritime customers.

We are currently seeking full-time Material Handlers to work Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Each 8-hour shift also includes a 30-minute unpaid meal break and 2 paid 15 mins breaks.

Saturday or evening shifts might happen occasionally if there is a special project with a tight deadline, but the goal is a steady and reliable Monday through Friday 40-hour work week to avoid weekend, night-time, and overtime work.

The pay for this position is $16.50/hr. SJS also offers 80 hours of PTO accrual, medical, dental, vision, and a variety of additional benefits including 7 paid holidays and 2 floating holidays.

He or she will be willing to learn how to work in a warehouse environment that is fast-paced, learn to handle various types of forklifts to ensure personal safety, will be at ease with working with others within a fast-paced team environment without compromising quality, and will exhibit conscientious workmanship to ensure components meet military and maritime industry acceptance standards.

Responsibilities will include:

• Prepare and mask surfaces of components prior to coating.
• Safely operate hand and power tools, including pneumatic sanders, electric drills, and impact wrenches, to assemble, disassemble, and prepare jobs.
• Hang parts using proper methods on mobile racks in preparation for coating.
• Move products in and out of blasting areas, paint booths, and ovens.
• Prepare and hang products for painting and powder coating.
• Prepare all finished products for delivery or pickup.
• Store and secure all unused powder according to procedures.
• Learn and apply proper grounding techniques when hanging parts for coating.
• Learn and understand the fundamentals of project traveler documents.
• Perform clean-up duties throughout the shift, including sweeping powder booths.
• Follow all written and verbal instructions accurately.
• Observe safety guidelines and report any safety concerns to management.
• Attend all required safety and production training sessions.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout the shift.
• Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude at all times.
• Regular and reliable attendance is required.
• Complete other production-related tasks as assigned by supervisors or the Production Manager.
• Remain standing and mobile for extended periods; frequent bending, twisting, squatting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching at or above shoulder level is required.

Qualifications:

• Current and valid Virginia's State Driver license
• Forklift skills a plus
• Must pass drug test and background check
• Must have attention to detail and focus
• Willing and able to wear personal protective equipment necessary for job duties performed
