Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineering Technician will support the design, development, and optimization of manufacturing processes, equipment and fixtures. Working closely with engineers, production staff, and quality teams, this role focuses on improving efficiency, reducing waste, and ensuring the seamless operation of manufacturing systems.
You Will:
- Partner with Manufacturing Engineers to identify and resolve defects in production processes, applying root cause analysis to implement permanent corrective actions.
- Support daily operations by advising manufacturing personnel on the proper use and maintenance of equipment across departments to optimize workflow and throughput.
- Monitor productivity and product performance, communicating findings and concerns to engineers and production management to drive continuous improvement.
- Apply relevant engineering principles and procedures to meet departmental goals and enhance operational effectiveness.
- Assist in the creation and refinement of detailed work instructions to ensure consistency and quality in production tasks.
- Promote a clean, organized, and safe work environment, promptly reporting any hazardous conditions to supervisory staff.
- Utilize Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements; demonstrate fundamental troubleshooting capabilities.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to test, evaluate, and validate new tools, equipment, and manufacturing techniques.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of process modifications, machine parameters, and key production metrics to support traceability and analysis.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements throughout all manufacturing activities.
You Have:
- Associate's degree (A.S.) in Optics, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline, plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant industry experience.
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), ISO standards, Bills of Material (BOM), and opto-mechanical principles. Prior experience in optical assembly is highly desirable.
- Strong ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and adaptability in both individual and team settings. Able to understand and execute complex procedures.
- Excellent manual dexterity and sharp visual acuity, essential for precision tasks.
- Proficient in computer applications, with moderate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) techniques is a plus.

Environment & Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers, handle or feel: and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch: and talk and hear.
- The job may involve prolonged periods of sitting/standing.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. May involve prolonged periods of magnified inspection (eye strain).
- Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp.
- The employee is frequently required to use the computer.
- May involve the use of oils and solvents.
- Subject to some soilage and irritation from cleaning solutions. (Lab Coats provided)
- Generally, works in a clean environment and works to maintain the environment as such.
- Safety Glasses are required and may require area specific safety training.
- This position works in a manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
- The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne paper particles.
- May work at different workstations as production needs require, or shifts from one station to another, during the production process.
