Manufacturing Engineer - Equipment Relocation & Production Transfer


Location: Greenville, Michigan

Reports to: Vladimir Salazar - Executive Director of Operations


Middleby Refrigeration is seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Manufacturing Engineer to oversee the successful transfer of manufacturing equipment and production processes between two manufacturing operations. This role will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing equipment relocation and process enablement, while ensuring that production continuity, quality, and efficiency are maintained throughout the transition. This is a temporary contract position with a duration of up to 6 months.


The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise in manufacturing processes, excellent project management skills, and experience in equipment installation, qualification, and process validation.

Expected Hours of Work:

This position is full-time. The general scheduled workdays are Monday through Friday.


Position Overview:

The Manufacturing Engineer - Equipment Relocation & Production Transfer plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless movement of equipment and the efficient transfer of production processes between facilities or manufacturing lines. You will manage a wide range of responsibilities, from planning and coordinating relocation projects to optimizing workflows and maintaining production quality during transitions. This role ensures all activities comply with engineering standards, safety regulations, and operational timelines, minimizing downtime and supporting overall manufacturing efficiency.


Responsibilities:

Equipment Relocation & Installation

  • Plan and manage the relocation of manufacturing equipment between plants, including disassembly, transport, reassembly, and commissioning.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, operations, and external vendors to ensure safe and timely moves.
  • Ensure equipment meets operational and safety standards after installation.


Production Transfer & Process Continuity

  • Develop and execute detailed transfer plans to minimize downtime and ensure smooth production ramp-up.
  • Document and transfer manufacturing procedures, process parameters, and quality control standards between sites.
  • Train receiving plant personnel on equipment operation and maintenance requirements.

Project Management

  • Develop project timelines, budgets, and resource plans for equipment and process transfers.
  • Monitor progress, address challenges, and provide regular updates to leadership.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and EHS.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure transferred processes meet product quality, regulatory, and safety standards.
  • Conduct validation and qualification activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) as required.
  • Maintain detailed documentation for compliance and internal audit purposes.


Requirements:

Qualifications:


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, preferably with multi-site operations.
  • Proven experience in equipment relocation, installation, and process transfer.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Proficient in CAD software and manufacturing documentation systems.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methods.
  • Strong communication skills for cross-functional and cross-site coordination.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily office and manufacturing floor environment.
  • Travel between facilities required (approximately 50% of the time).
  • 8-hour shifts
  • Monday- Friday
