Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer will assist the operations team in meeting its strategic goals for safety, quality, delivery, and cost through IQ/OQ/PQ activities, lean work cell design, manufacturing equipment design revisions, cost improvement projects, capital expenditure projects, leading and supporting lean kaizen events.

  • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods.
  • Troubleshoots process problems and develops short- and long-term solutions
  • Develops complete project plans including resources, costs, benefits and schedules. Assumes full responsibility for all aspects of projects to ensure goals are met on time. Communicates project status to stakeholders as appropriate and follows up to ensure project results are sustained.
  • Prepares and maintains manufacturing documentation (BOM, Work Instructions, Manufacturing Standard Practice, Setup sheets, and Test methods) for new and existing products in manufacturing.
  • Performs mechanical design of manufacturing fixtures and equipment upgrades using SolidWorks
  • Oversee product production to ensure the final product is of the highest quality
  • Leads and facilitates kaizen activities using lean tools, encouraging cross-functional groups to participate and meet common goals.
  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Prepares documentation using Excel, IQMS, CAD packages, Word, PowerPoint, and digital photography.
  • Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
  • Understands and applies the necessary programming skills related to various types of equipment.
  • Provide support to automation team
  • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts. Evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • BS degree in Engineering or Industrial Technology
  • 3-5+ years technical experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficient in computer programs including; SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MS Office, etc. required
  • Plastics Injection Molding experience preferred
  • Ability to understand or learn PLC, Electronics, Hydraulics, Robotics and CNC programming
  • Experience in ISO 9001 & 13485 Quality Management Systems
  • Medical manufacturing experience desired (IQ/OQ/PQ)
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Promotes teamwork and collaboration
  • Proactive and self-motivated
  • Understanding of value stream mapping
  • Strong organizational skills
