Description: New Tech Global Staffing is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for a client located in South Houston, TX to join our team. This is a direct hire opportunity.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 40 hours/week from 8am to 5pm
Summary Responsible for driving manufacturing excellence through engineering support, process optimization, and cross-functional collaboration. This role ensures efficient production operations, cost-effective solutions, and continuous improvement while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities - Collaborate with procurement and purchasing teams to optimize material flow and inventory management.
- Utilize SolidWorks and GibbsCAM to design product builds, machining fixtures, and job travelers.
- Conduct cost analysis studies and support budget preparation for manufacturing projects.
- Lead feasibility studies and ROI analysis for new technologies and systems.
- Design and oversee manufacturing of in-house machining fixtures including CNC/VTL setups, drills, saws, and specialized equipment.
- Develop in-process check fixtures and provide detailed work instructions and tooling reviews.
- Assess operational risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate disruptions.
- Support business continuity strategies and emergency preparedness.
- Implement labor standards through time studies and labor tracking systems.
- Analyze process constraints and conduct cycle time analyses for improvement.
- Research and propose efficiency enhancements and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Oversee and implement improved procedures and new equipment installations.
- Review changes in plant layout, processes, material handling, and routing.
- Partner with Sales, Operations, Quality, and Planning to resolve issues and align goals.
- Coordinate with QA on documentation and support ISO and internal audits.
- Maintain accurate documentation of manufacturing processes and equipment specifications.
- Train team members on new or improved manufacturing procedures.
- Support capital projects and production planning aligned with strategic objectives.
- Evaluate and improve safety procedures, promoting a culture of safety.
- Support new product and process development to optimize workflows and manufacturability.
- Apply statistical analysis tools for troubleshooting and process capability studies.
- Provide technical support to production teams to minimize downtime and optimize throughput.
- Support QA in developing manufacturing methods and quality standards.
- Lead by example in safety compliance and promote safe work practices.
- Lead cross-functional project teams for major manufacturing initiatives.
- Communicate project status, milestones, and challenges to senior management.
- Execute additional tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
- 5-10 years of experience in mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Required: SolidWorks, GibbsCAM
- Recommended: Epicor ERP system, BOMs and MOMs for MRP
- Proficiency in engineering principles including structural mechanics, hydraulics, heat transfer, electricity, ergonomics, and data management.
- Strong knowledge of CNC machines and manufacturing shop machinery.
- Experience designing tube plugs and flow control products preferred.
- Experience with DOE, A3, 8D problem-solving methodologies preferred.
- Familiarity with Lean tools: pull flow, one-piece flow, kaizen, takt time, load leveling, kanban, setup reduction, value stream mapping, visual factory.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of industry regulations and safety standards.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
