Machine Set Up Operator

Job Summary:

Operate mechanical equipment and machine tools to product precision metal parts. Set up and operate a variety of machine tools, lathes, milling machines, boring machines, saws, grinders, manual machines and computer numerical controlled machines, to product precision parts and instruments. Uses blueprints, design sketches or other documents to ensure proper dimensions and tolerance levels of finished product. Performs a wide variety of tasks to ensure inventory accuracy as well as a high quality standard.

• Performs duties with minimal supervision.
• All essential duties of Machine Operator.
• Determine how much material to remove per SOE instructions.
• Select tools and materials for the job per SOE instructions.
• Detect problems by listening for specific sounds.
• Replace dull cutting tools.
• Modify programs in response to problems, with Supervisor's approval.
• Set up and operate metalworking, brazing, heat-treating, welding, and cutting equipment.
• Position and fasten work pieces.
• Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
• Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
