International Air Freight Operations Specialist

Position Summary This position is responsible for delivering excellent customer service, quality operational execution, and assisting our company in the movement of goods door to door for air export consignments. The position will also entail quoting responsibilities for those same export consignments.
Key Responsibilities- Understanding and ability to accumulate the required data entry points needed to prepare and route Master Airwaybills and House Airwaybills ensuring company standards are met.
- Ownership of key accounts, i.e. both US customers and shipper/consignees abroad.
- Participate in high level training of the export teams.
- Data entry of shipment files for initial entry into transportation system.
- Request rates from vendors for movement of freight, as needed.
- Knowledge and ability to create requests for rate correspondence to overseas agents and follow up on those requests.
- Collect quoted costs and coordinate with the quoting personnel or handle the quote personally.
- Update customers and management of shipments' statuses via web-tracking notes and updating of current dates in our programs.
- Utilize excellent verbal and interpersonal skills and daily tracking.
- Enter Proof of Departure and Delivery information into relevant transportation software.
- Gather and enter job costs, with accuracy and timeliness for billing and posting files.
QualificationsEducation & Industry Knowledge
- High school diploma/GED and/or related trade certifications required.
- BA degree in Business, Logistics or International Trade or Transportation & Logistics is an asset.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in International Air Freight Forwarding in air export.
- Experience in International freight forwarding operating system e.g. Cargowise, SAPTM, Gateway
- Industry knowledge and terminology including: export regulations and documentation requirements, pricing methodology, are preferred.
General Knowledge & Required Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook.
- Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work well under pressure while multitasking.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures and provide input for the advancement of corporate policy.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to multi-task accurately, with accurate attention to high level of detail.
- Team cooperation and respect is required.
- Ability to establish priorities, work independently in a fast-paced environment, and proceed with objectives with minimal supervision.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Work Schedule & Environment
- Shift Schedule:
- Monday - Friday: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
- Consistently report to work on time, prepared to perform required duties in an in-office environment.
- Ensure work responsibilities are covered when absent.
- Full time schedule of minimum 8 hours per day with flexibility to complete all required job duties and responsibilities.
- Usually moderate noise level.
- Climate controlled office environment.
Physical Demands
- Regular physical demands: Walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel; use fingers for keyboarding; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to an individual's education, work experience, skills, and job-related knowledge. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
Other compensation includes, but is not limited to, bonuses, commissions, or stock options.
