Position Summary:
The Hobby Radio Control Technician is a member of the Service/Tech team within the Hobby Radio Control division. Primary responsibility will be identifying and resolving problems with Futaba Hobby equipment by communicating with customers
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyze and troubleshoot product failures using various test equipment: Multi meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer, custom jigs, and test equipment.
- Perform rework including solder touchup, board replacement and switch replacements so that the assembly functions properly and meets specified requirements.
- Assist customers in identifying and resolving problems with their Futaba hobby products by phone, e-mail, or in person. Determine the issue and/or suggest purchase needs to correct.
- Guide customers through the installation and updating of software and hardware for basic level of products.
- Escalates complex problems to the appropriate team member or department.
- Report common questions and/or problems regarding product use to help improve instruction manuals and design.
- Document rework that is performed in the tracking system and internal log; communicates issues/trends on products with department team members.
- Follows written and/or verbal instructions and processes.
- Complies with EPA and OSHA standards; Adheres to proper safety practices when performing all tasks.
- Protects electronic assemblies from ESD damage through proper use of ESD protection equipment.
- Maintains a clean and organized work environment by performing routine housekeeping tasks.
- Inputs ideas and concerns on procedures, processes, product issues, safety issues, etc.
- Occasional travel to large events to assist with questions and product demonstrations.
- All other duties as assigned by management to ensure the success of Futaba.
Experience and Educational Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED preferred.
- 3 years related experience in the hobby radio control business/industry preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1-3 years soldering experience preferred.
- Basic MS Office skills, specifically Excel, Word and Outlook are required.
- Amateur (HAM) radio license preferred.

- Written communication skills: Ability to read and write reports and procedure manuals. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
- Strong verbal communication skills: Ability to effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations to managers and other employees of the organization. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and employees.
- Reasoning skills: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to manage complex array of projects with multiple partners in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
