$25.37 to $30.00 Job Summary: The Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a variety of heavy-duty vehicles and equipment used in waste collection operations, including roll-off, front-load, and residential trash trucks. This role ensures all vehicles operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with DOT and company standards.
Key Responsibilities: - Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections on diesel trucks and hydraulic systems.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on heavy-duty equipment.
- Conduct DOT inspections and maintain accurate service records.
- Troubleshoot engine, transmission, brake, steering, and suspension systems.
- Order and replace parts as needed and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA/DOT regulations.
- Collaborate with operations staff to minimize equipment downtime and ensure fleet reliability.
Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in diesel mechanics preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in heavy truck maintenance and repair, preferably in the waste industry.
- Valid driver's license (CDL preferred).
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and diagnostic tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 to 45 per week
