We are a large Real Estate company headquartered in Durango, CO, hiring for a Financial Controller to join our finance and accounting team! This person will support our CFO with establishing and maintaining internal controls, presenting accurate and comprehensive financial information, monitoring cashflow requirements across multiple accounts, and collaborating with management to improve efficiencies within the organization.
Our ideal candidate will bring 6+ years of experience in financial reporting, analysis in accordance to GAAP, cash flow management, forecasting, budgeting and general accounting (reconciliations, M/E close, journal entries, etc.). If this sounds like you, please apply TODAY!

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Financial Controller to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a significant role in our company's financial management, which includes all aspects of accounting operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for budget management, financial analysis, payroll, forecasting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting. This role requires a deep understanding of the financial trends of both the company and the market. The Financial Controller will work closely with the management team to develop strategies and implement financial plans that align with our company's short and long-term goals.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee all company accounts and investments.
2. Create monthly and annual reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts.
3. Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports.
4. Supervise and manage financial department staff, including accountants and financial assistants.
5. Motivate and lead the finance team members by clarifying roles and providing helpful feedback.
6. Suggest updates and improvements for accounting systems, including payroll and invoicing.
7. Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported.
8. Establish and implement financial reporting systems to comply with government regulations and legislation.
9. Collaborate with auditing services to ensure proper compliance with all regulations.
10. Develop budgets and financial plans for the company based on research and data reports.
11. Review all financial plans and budgets regularly to look for cost reduction opportunities.
12. Examine all financial reports and data closely to check for discrepancies.
13. Create systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations.
14. Report to the CFO with timely and accurate financial information.
15. Assist the CFO in presenting reports to senior executives, stakeholders, and board members.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field (MBA preferred).
3. Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Accounting Supervisor, chief or senior accountant.
4. Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
5. Experience with creating financial statements and general ledger functions.
6. Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
7. Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, like FreshBooks and QuickBooks.
8. Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables.
9. Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
10. Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills.
11. 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience.
12. Experience with financial forecasting and risk analysis.
13. Experience with cash management and risk assessment.
14. Proficient in Balance Sheet Reconciliation, Financial Statement Preparation, Forecasting, Cash Forecasting, Month-end Close, and Budgeting.
