The Finance Manager supports the Director of Finance in providing consistent leadership and oversight of the hotel's financial operations. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining effective internal controls, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, and safeguarding ownership assets. The Finance Manager partners closely with department heads to analyze performance, enhance profitability, and promote financial integrity across all areas of the hotel.

Responsibilities
  • Assist and report directly to the Director of Finance in all accounting and financial functions.
  • Oversee Accounts Payable, ensuring invoices are processed accurately, vendor statements are reconciled, and payments are completed in accordance with company policy.
  • Communicate effectively and maintain positive relationships with vendors, ensuring timely resolution of billing inquiries, payment issues, and account discrepancies.
  • Monitor and manage the Accounting "info" email inbox, responding promptly to inquiries, routing messages appropriately, and ensuring timely follow-up.
  • Assist with billing for group and event accounts, including processing credit card authorizations, direct bill applications, and payment reconciliations.
  • Assist reservations with OTA (Online Travel Agency) routing, payment processing, and commission reconciliations.
  • Support the Front Desk, Sales, and Events departments by ensuring billing accuracy, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining clear financial communication.
  • Provide cross-training and backup coverage for other Finance Managers during scheduled time off or absences.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all financial statements, reports, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist with monthly closing, forecasting, and budget preparation in coordination with the Director of Finance.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and compliance with MCR Hotel policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Monitor revenues, expenses for accuracy and adherence to budgetary guidelines.
  • Perform special projects and financial analyses as assigned by the Director of Finance and senior management.
  • Answer guest calls and inquiries in a professional, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
  • Attend required meetings and trainings and participate in M.O.D. (Manager on Duty) coverage as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity in all financial and operational matters.

Requirements:
  • At least 3-4 years of progressive hotel accounting and/or finance experience.
  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and hotel systems such as Opera PMS, Sage, and purchase order systems
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to interact courteously and attentively with all levels of employees, management, and guests.
  • Strong listening and comprehension skills to effectively understand and resolve concerns.
  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain regular attendance and comply with all MCR Hotel standards.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
  • High integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintain a warm, professional, and friendly demeanor at all times.
  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, service-oriented manner.
