Field Machining Technician

Job Overview:

Colt is seeking a highly motivated individual who values a company that emphasizes quality and integrity. This individual will be tasked with implementing and monitoring the field machining technician training program in the local Division; verifying that divisional technicians meet the parameters for technician classification and advancement; verifying and enforcing work acceptance criteria; following equipment maintenance protocols; and scheduling, assisting, and overseeing field machining jobs, as required. The successful candidate must be willing to travel within the Division and to multiple states when necessary. Must be familiar with the Power Generation, Oil & Gas, Pulp & Paper, Petrochemical, Nuclear Generation, and Midstream Processing industries. This person is responsible for developing and assessing machining resources for the local Division and effective communication between the customer, the Service Line Manager, Colt Operations, Division Managers, and Colt Technicians to ensure a successful outcome.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Review and implement Colt Field Machining Procedures.
  • Enforce work acceptance criteria for field machining jobs.
  • Perform job walkdowns.
  • Work with Colt Safety Department and Colt Technicians to ensure field machining Safe Work Practices are always utilized.
  • Implement, and maintain equipment maintenance and inspection protocols for equipment utilized within the Division.
  • Assist Field Machining Commercial Manager and Division Managers in pricing field machining jobs, as needed.
  • Must be capable of and willing to physically work jobs and assist Colt Technicians on the job site.
  • To represent Colt with honesty and integrity.
  • Maintain Colt's Core Values in both actions and appearance.
  • Overnight travel required.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in field machining work execution.
  • Must possess an understanding of the equipment and workforce requirements to successfully complete field machining projects.
  • Must have the ability to interact with a variety of people and personalities up to Plant Managers.
  • Must possess the ability to provide technical assistance to sales. (Lunch & Learns, etc.)
  • Must have extensive experience in training technicians on the operation of equipment and use of procedures.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of the maintenance requirements for all types of field machining equipment.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and highly organized.
  • Must Possess a Valid Driver's License.
  • Must have the ability to adapt to ever changing schedule and priorities.
  • Must be able to pass multiple drug screens and background checks.
