Facilities Supervisor

POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for the upkeep, mechanical operation, and overall appearance of Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center, 200 Annex and Camp Kehilla; including all pool, and fitness center. This position delegates tasks, train team members and ensures assigned tasks are completed.


Sunday 2p-10p

Monday-Thursday 4p-12am


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Team Lead Responsibilities:

Supervision, training and oversight of all maintenance, custodial, and housekeeping staff

Provide direction on work prioritization and coordination to maintenance staff to ensure all cleaning, room set-ups and break-downs, repairs, and grounds maintenance and upkeep are done appropriately and in a timely manner

Liaison to all departments for prioritizing and meeting maintenance and facility needs

Outstanding leadership and managerial skills

Responsible for the safety of the maintenance and custodial staff


Position Responsibilities:

Maintain building and grounds for a clean, neat, and professional appearance

Perform floor cleaning, mopping, stripping, restroom cleaning and sanitizing, garbage and recycling collection and disposal, dusting, window washing, and carpet vacuuming, and carpentry repairs

Monitor, maintain, repair and replace (after all appropriate approvals), central supplies, cleaning supplies, road salt & sand, security/alarms, paper goods, etc.

Oversee all snow and ice removal from roads, parking areas, and sidewalks

Maintain Keys and lock sets and assist with opening and closing

Report problems and/or unsafe conditions to the Facilities Supervisor

Coordinate and assist with department and employee moves such as hanging pictures and shelves and dismantling and installing furniture

Complete incident reports when necessary

Respond to emergencies in building and on campus as needed

Suggest improvements to facilities and equipment systems to improve performance and reduce environmental impact and cost

Assist with Center-wide special events and programs

Additional duties as assigned



Must be able to speak English and Spanish

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Regular lifting and carrying of materials, supplies, and equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to operate custodial equipment such as vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, carpet extractors, and ladders.
  • Visual and manual dexterity required for detailed cleaning and equipment use.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive tasks and maintain stamina for physically demanding work throughout the shift.
  • Ability to safely handle exposure to cleaning agents and follow proper safety protocols (e.g., PPE, MSDS compliance).


WORK ENVIRONMENT

The custodian typically works indoors in a community center environment, including offices, restrooms, gymnasiums, event spaces, kitchens, and multipurpose rooms.

Occasional work may be required outdoors (e.g., cleaning entryways, walkways, or during special events).

The environment may involve exposure to cleaning chemicals, noise from equipment, and varied temperatures depending on the season and HVAC settings.

Custodians often work independently but may also interact regularly with staff, volunteers, and the public.

The position may require flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on the community center's programming schedule.

Compensation details: 23-23 Hourly Wage
