Job Summary:

The Facilities Superintendent plays a key management role in ensuring that all aspects of facility management align with company goals and industry regulations. This includes overseeing safety programs, ensuring compliance with OSHA, Environmental, and Department of Transportation standards, managing facility maintenance, and controlling manufacturing assets (equipment and machinery) along with other projects at the plants. This position directly supports the operational success and growth of the organization at the plant level. The Facilities Superintendent reports to the National Facilities Director.


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Management: Collaborates with local plant management teams to take full partnership and accountability for facility operations; ensuring safety, environmental compliance, and efficient use of resources. Execute long-term plans for facility management, driving innovation and continuous improvement. Establish metrics and reporting to ensure all program goals are being met
  • Safety Programs & Compliance: Lead safety initiatives, ensuring adherence to OSHA regulations and company safety protocols. Oversee compliance with OSHA 300 logs, maintain environmental standards, and regularly audit all safety practices to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Fleet Management: Maintain and oversee the company's fleet of commercial trucks and vehicles, ensuring that all assets are managed efficiently and comply with company policies and regulations.
  • Facility Maintenance & Asset Management: Lead efforts to keep all facilities operating at peak efficiency. Collaborate with plant superintendents to troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues, enhancing operational productivity and facility lifespan.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain comprehensive emergency response plans, including evacuation protocols, crisis management strategies, and health & safety training for all employees.
  • Capital Budget & Project Management: Participate in the annual capital budgeting process, including asset management, capital expenditures, and project forecasting. Ensure the proper documentation of capital projects and lead initiatives that improve facility operations.
  • Contractor & Vendor Management: Oversee and manage relationships with external contractors and service providers, ensuring that all services meet company standards and timelines. Build long-term partnerships with suppliers and service vendors.
  • Training & Development: Establish comprehensive training programs for plant production teams, ensuring all personnel are well-versed in safety, operational procedures, and equipment use. Foster a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Data Management: Continuously monitor and assess compliance with all relevant regulations. Collect, verify, and maintain safety and compliance data, ensuring that all records are accurate and up to date.
  • Reporting & Auditing: Generate detailed reports on facility performance, safety trends, and compliance metrics, offering strategic insights to management. Regularly audit internal systems for areas of improvement.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with the National Facilities Director and senior leadership to develop and update policies, procedures, and long-term plans. Work collaboratively with other departments and facility teams to ensure alignment of objectives and operational success.
Requirements:

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively share information and insights with team members and management.
  • Project Management: Expertise in managing large projects, including capital improvement, fleet management, and vendor relations.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of OSHA, Environmental, and Department of Transportation regulations.

Education & Experience:

  • Required: Experience in facility management, maintenance, construction, or a related field, including at least 3 years in a management or leadership role.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in business administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: Proven success in managing external contractors and service providers, as well as facility maintenance and operations.

Travel Requirement:

This position requires significant travel, approximately 50-75%, to various plant locations across the assigned region.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform in both office and field environments.
  • Capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in diverse conditions, including at heights, in confined spaces, and under extreme weather.
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
