About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Embedded Electronics Engineer with deep expertise in circuit board reverse engineering, firmware re-development, and advanced component-level troubleshooting. The ideal candidate has a proven track record in analyzing complex PCB systems, writing embedded firmware from scratch, and leading efforts to restore, upgrade, or enhance legacy electronic systems. This position plays a key role in product lifecycle engineering, repair strategy optimization, and technical mentoring of junior team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform full reverse engineering of multi-layer PCB assemblies, including schematic reconstruction, signal tracing, and component identification.
  • Analyze existing embedded firmware and develop new codebases to restore or improve device functionality.
  • Create detailed documentation for reverse-engineered circuits, including netlists, BOMs, and re-drawn schematics.
  • Lead root cause investigations and advanced troubleshooting efforts on failed or intermittent boards.
  • Develop automated test setups for diagnostics, board validation, and long-term performance analysis.
  • Redesign and modernize outdated electronic boards using contemporary components while maintaining backward compatibility.
  • Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, and production teams to drive seamless board-level integration and repairs.
  • Guide junior engineers and technicians on repair techniques, firmware flashing, and troubleshooting practices.
  • Optimize board repair processes, reducing cost, downtime, and improving first-pass yield rates.
  • Work with vendors and suppliers to identify equivalent or improved component replacements.
  • Provide engineering support for production, service, and field teams during critical failure or redesign projects.
  • Help create technical training materials and step-by-step guides for repairing, reprogramming and requalifying circuit boards.
  • Explore and use new technologies to improve product design, time to market, and support sustainability.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in circuit board reverse engineering, embedded firmware development, and board-level troubleshooting.
  • Experienced in using C and python programming languages to develop embedded software for microcontrollers like ARM, Cortex-M, STM32, Raspberry Pi Pico (RP2040), ESP32 and Microchip PIC series.
  • Experience working with real-time operating systems (RTOS), device drivers and low-level hardware interfaces to build efficient and reliable embedded systems.
  • Strong Knowledge and practical experience with LCD/LED displays, touchscreen technologies and digitizer integration in embedded systems.
  • Proficient in using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and JTAG/debuggers.
  • Hands-on experience with rework stations, including soldering and de-soldering of fine-pitch components.
  • Practical experience with common communication protocols such as Ethernet, UART, I2C, SPI, CAN and USB, used for data transfer and device interfacing in embedded systems.
  • Capable of creating technical documentation, including reverse-engineered schematics to support hardware analysis, redesign and troubleshooting.
  • Strong analytical skills with a structured approach to failure analysis and debugging.
  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills, able to convey technical concepts clearly.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Solid understanding of both digital and analog circuit design including principles of signal integrity.
  • Hands-on, solutions-driven engineer with a passion for diagnosing, restoring, and enhancing legacy electronic systems and components.
  • Demonstrated success in high-speed environments like repair centers, refurbishment lines, or service operations where reliability turnaround time, and customer satisfaction are critical.
  • Familiarity with project management tools (e.g. Jira, Wrike) and methodologies (e.g., Agile/Scrum) to coordinate tasks, track progress, and collaborate across engineering and operations team.
