Electronics Repair Technician (Circuit Board)
Position Summary
The Electronics Repair Technician supports circuit board repair operations by troubleshooting, bench testing, repairing, and maintaining printed circuit boards (PCBs), sub-assemblies, and related electronic components. This role operates within a circuit board repair environment and may assist field personnel as needed. The technician works under close supervision while developing technical proficiency in diagnostics, repair, and validation testing of electronic systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and work from complex schematics, wiring diagrams, part lists, engineering manuals, work orders, test procedures, and customer specifications
- Perform detailed troubleshooting, repair, rework, and bench testing of digital and analog electronic assemblies to the component/module level
- Set up and operate electronic bench test equipment to conduct operational, functional, and environmental tests on circuit boards, assemblies, and sub-assemblies
- Conduct post-repair validation and verification testing to ensure compliance with specifications and performance standards
- Perform through-hole and surface mount soldering and component replacement
- Build, repair, and test cable assemblies and related hardware
- Support corrosion prevention, detection, and treatment processes
- Maintain tools, test equipment, supplies, and maintenance kits to ensure operational readiness
- Assist field personnel with on-site technical tasks as required
- Perform housekeeping and general maintenance of system equipment and work areas
- Maintain accurate service records, repair documentation, and test reports
- Transport personnel, equipment, supplies, and spare parts between equipment locations
- Provide feedback to supervisors regarding timelines, productivity goals, and technical challenges
- Perform additional technical and semi-technical duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
- 1-2 years of related electronics repair, circuit board troubleshooting, or bench testing experience
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical documentation and electronic schematics
- Experience performing component-level troubleshooting and diagnostics on PCBs
- Through-hole and surface mount soldering experience preferred
- Familiarity with digital and analog test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, power supplies, etc.)
