Electrical Project Engineer

  • Lead the electrical design and integration of industrial robotic welding automation systems, including control panels, safety circuits, and field wiring.

  • Develop and review electrical schematics, panel layouts, cable harness drawings, and BOMs using industry-standard CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).

  • Specify, source, and integrate robot controllers, PLCs, safety devices, sensors, drives, and weld equipment.

  • Interface with robotic systems (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa, etc.) and collaborate with mechanical and controls teams to ensure seamless system integration.

  • Design and implement safety systems in compliance with NFPA 79, NEC, RIA, and ISO standards.

  • Support PLC and robot programming teams with electrical design documentation and troubleshooting.

  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and documentation throughout the design-build lifecycle.

  • Provide on-site commissioning, debug, and startup support for robotic welding systems.

  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for electrical components and system integration support.

  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and validation testing (FAT/SAT) to ensure system performance and reliability.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or related field.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in industrial automation or robotic system design, preferably with welding automation.

  • Proven experience in electrical system design, panel build, and robotic cell integration.

  • Familiarity with robotic welding equipment, power distribution, and control architectures.

  • Experience with design for manufacturability and system reliability.
