About the Job
As an Electrical Engineer II, you'll take ownership of key electrical subsystems and components within our engineered systems. You'll contribute to the full product lifecycle-from concepting and prototyping to validation and release-ensuring your designs are robust, manufacturable, and field-ready. You'll support product development through thoughtful circuit design, hands-on iteration, and clear documentation while collaborating closely with other engineers and cross-functional teams.

Who You Are
You're a motivated individual contributor with a strong electrical engineering foundation and a track record of delivering meaningful results in product development. With 2-4 years of experience , you've designed, tested, and supported electrical systems through development stages, and you're gaining confidence in balancing technical depth with practical problem-solving.
You're comfortable in CAD and simulation tools, debugging in the lab, and communicating across disciplines. You think critically, iterate quickly, and approach design with both creativity and rigor. You're collaborative, resourceful, and ready to take on greater responsibility within a team that values both innovation and execution.
What You'll Be Doing
- Design + Build: Research, design, prototype, validate, and test electrical/electronic power and control systems for renewable and ruggedized applications.
- Document + Communicate: Generate accurate technical documentation, including schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, and test reports.
- Improve + Iterate: Identify ways to enhance existing designs with a focus on cost, quality, manufacturability, and sustainability.
- Own Subsystems: Take responsibility for electrical subassemblies within larger systems, balancing performance, safety, environmental, and compliance constraints.
- Prototype + Test: Build and evaluate prototypes, assist with test plan development, and refine designs based on lab and field results.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with mechanical, production, and supply chain teams to ensure designs succeed in practice.
- Peer Engagement: Participate in design reviews and offer support to Electrical Engineer I teammates through collaborative work.
- Solve + Document: Troubleshoot issues, implement design improvements, and provide clear records of changes and decisions.
- Travel: While this role is primarily on-site, occasional travel-up to 25%-may be required to support fieldwork, training, or cross-site collaboration.
Additional duties may be assigned as necessary to support departmental and organizational goals.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Experience: 2-4 years in an electrical engineering role within manufacturing, product development, or power electronics.
- Skills:
- Proficient in SolidWorks Electrical or equivalent CAD platform.
- Familiarity with simulation tools (e.g., SPICE, MATLAB).
- Experience with PCB design, prototyping, and testing workflows.
- Ability to interpret customer specs and translate them into manufacturable designs.
- Ability to develop and execute test plans with clear documentation.
- Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making framework.
- Hands-on experience using lab equipment and basic hand tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication, especially across disciplines.
- Self-directed with a collaborative, team-first mindset.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Experience designing solar, hybrid power, or ruggedized electrical systems.
- Familiarity with UL, NFPA 70: NEC, IEC, ANSI, and/or military standards.
- Exposure to EMI/RFI design considerations and mitigation.
- Knowledge of thermal management and cooling techniques.
- Experience with embedded systems, hardware/firmware integration, or control circuits.
- Background in prototyping workflows (3D printing, shop tools, makerspace projects).
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to safely lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds independently.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team to lift and move items exceeding 50 pounds when necessary.
- Comfort working in a manufacturing environment with moderate noise and temperature variations.
