EHS Specialist

I'm currently supporting a manufacturing site that's looking to add two EHS Specialists to their team. The EHS Specialist will lead site-level Environmental, Health & Safety initiatives to promote a high-performance safety culture and support the organization's goal of Zero Harm. This role partners with plant leadership and employees to drive continuous improvement, ensure regulatory compliance, and proactively mitigate risk in a manufacturing environment.

Two openings:

  • Days (5am-1:30 pm if working 8 hrs, 5am-3:30 if 10 hour shift)
  • 2 nd shift (3:30pm - midnight or 3:30pm- 2am). 8.5% premium on 2nd shift.
What you'll be doing:
  • Lead and influence a strong EHS culture across hourly and salaried employees
  • Develop, implement, and maintain site EHS programs, procedures, and training
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements
  • Manage incident reporting, investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
  • Identify and mitigate hazards through audits, trend analysis, and process/equipment reviews
  • Oversee environmental programs including air, wastewater, stormwater, and waste management
  • Prepare and submit required environmental reports (e.g., Tier II, TRI, air emissions)
  • Support emergency response planning, drills, and site security
  • Chair or co-chair the plant safety committee and partner with facilities on property risk
  • Lead or support safety improvement projects and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Spanish speaking abilities is a big plus
  • CSP or similar safety certification preferred
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and regulatory compliance
  • Organizational Change Management experience
  • Workers' Comp experience
  • Experience with establishing and tracking metrics
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
