Westminster Village is a vibrant Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) dedicated to enriching the lives of our residents through compassionate care and a commitment to excellence. We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Facilities and Property to join our leadership team and oversee the physical operations of our campus.


The Director of Facilities and Property is responsible for the overall direction and management of facility operations to ensure a safe, clean, and attractive environment that supports the care and comfort of residents. This visible and highly engaged leader oversees a leadership team that includes the Assistant Director of Facilities and Property, Facilities Coordinator, Grounds Supervisor, and Facilities and Property Coordinator. The Director is accountable for preventive maintenance, construction and renovation projects, safety compliance, vendor relations, and departmental budgeting. This role collaborates closely with organizational leadership, the Board of Directors, and the Property Committee, while ensuring that all facilities-related functions align with Westminster Village's mission and regulatory standards.


Key Responsibilities

Facilities Management & Operations

  • Direct the maintenance, repair, renovation, and cleanliness of all buildings, grounds, and equipment.
  • Develop and implement short- and long-term maintenance strategies and capital improvement plans.
  • Lead construction, remodeling, and infrastructure projects; manage bids, cost estimates, contractor relations, and timelines.
  • Oversee compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local codes (IDPH, NFPA, CMS, etc.).
  • Ensure 24/7 availability to respond to facility-related emergencies.
  • Manage building automation systems, including HVAC and access control per ASHRAE standards.
  • Oversee security infrastructure and systems.

Leadership & Personnel Management

  • Supervise, coach, and evaluate a leadership team and departmental staff.
  • Develop performance expectations, conduct evaluations, and address performance issues.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and professional growth.

Strategic & Financial Oversight

  • Plan and manage departmental budgets; ensure fiscal responsibility and cost-effective practices.
  • Manage vendor relationships and contracts in collaboration with executive leadership.
  • Monitor and report progress regularly to the Chief Operating Officer and Board committees.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction, Industrial Management, or Facility Management preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities management, construction, or building systems, preferably in a healthcare or senior living environment.
  • Leadership experience with a proven track record in team management, budgeting, and project execution.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant codes and regulatory standards (CMS, IDPH, OSHA, etc.).
  • Technical expertise in HVAC, mechanical systems, safety protocols, and construction planning.
