Job Summary

Die setter is responsible for installing, aligning, adjusting, and removing dies used in mechanical stamping presses. Dies are precision tools designed to cut and form non-metallic material. This role ensures that production equipment is properly prepared to meet quality, safety, and efficiency standards. The Die Setter works closely with machine operators, supervisors, and maintenance teams to minimize downtime and ensure consistent product output.

Essential Job Functions

  • Installing dies into mechanical stamping presses
  • Aligning and securing dies to exact specifications
  • Adjusting settings (ram, timing, stroke length)
  • Inspect sample parts to ensure quality and tolerances are met
  • Troubleshooting defects like misalignment, cracks, or incomplete formation
  • Maintaining and inspecting dies for wear or damage
  • Following safety procedures due to heavy tooling and high-force equipment
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Perform work independently with minimal supervision
  • Blueprint and technical drawing reading
  • Precision measuring (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Problem-solving and attention to detail


Education and Experience

Technical degree and 2+ years of experience, or equivalent experience preferred.

A High School Diploma or GED with prior hands on, vocational or job-related course work/training, or any similar combination of education and experience is required.

Prior experience in the manufacturing industry is preferred.


Travel

Travel is not required.
