Controls Engineer

Position Summary:
The BAS Technician will perform preventive maintenance, installation, and programming work across multiple building management systems including Siemens, Alerton, Distech, Honeywell, Automated Logic, Trane, and Niagara N4. This position requires understanding HVAC principles and the ability to translate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) into controls sequences. Work includes hands-on troubleshooting, installation, programming, and maintenance within JLL standards and guidelines.
Essential Functions:
Install low voltage controls including running of conduit, mounting of devices and sensors
Perform sensor replacement, point-to-point check out, verification and calibration
Perform preventive maintenance on multiple BMS platforms (Siemens, Alerton, Distech, Honeywell, Automated Logic, Niagara N4)
Troubleshoot and repair building automation systems
Apply HVAC principles to optimize system performance
Identify energy savings opportunities through BAS optimization
Perform basic programming tasks with minimal supervision
Assist with integration of different control systems
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Understanding of HVAC systems and principles
Familiarity with multiple BMS platforms
Basic programming capabilities on building automation systems
Ability to interpret SOPs and technical documentation
Experience with low voltage control installation and conduit work
Proficiency in sensor calibration and verification techniques
Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Self-starter with strong interpersonal skills
Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
Valid state driver's license
2+ years of technical experience with building automation systems
High school diploma or GED
Preferred:
Knowledge of BAS/HVAC system design and application
Knowledge of Low voltage Electrical
Experience with multiple BMS platforms
Understanding of controls sequencing
Working Environment:
Truck-based position with travel to various locations within Tennessee up to 75% of the time
Daily team interaction in person, by phone, and via email
Work in mechanical rooms and potentially outdoors in varying weather conditions
Physical Requirements:
Regularly lift to 10 pounds
Frequently lift to 50 pounds
Climb ladders up to 30 ft
Work in mechanical rooms and potentially extreme weather conditions
May be exposed to voltages ranging from 24v-480v
May be exposed to moving mechanical parts, heavy equipment, wet/humid conditions, high places, fumes, airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and vibration
