Job Details:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Controller to join our Accounting + Finance team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the overall financial management of our firm. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of accounting and financial operations, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. The Controller will also be involved in supporting presentations to the board finance and audit committee and will work closely with senior leadership team.

Job Details

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
2. Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures.
3. Regularly produce financial reports or statements.
4. Coordinate, analyze and report the financial performance to Management and Board of Directors (financial performance, projections and other special projects as required).
5. Prepare and communicate monthly and annual financial statements.
6. Manage organizational cash flow forecasting by working in partnership with the program vice presidents; continuously collaborate with program vice presidents to assess the financial efficacy of program operations and establish finance and administrative systems to support program operations.
7. Manage and track the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines.
8. Leverage strengths of the current finance team members, help to clarify roles and responsibilities and develop and implement training programs in order to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals.

Qualifications:

1. A minimum of 5 years of accounting and finance experience, ideally beginning in accounting and audit, followed by experience gathering, evaluating, presenting and reporting financial information to executive teams and external stakeholders.
2. Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and unwavering commitment to our company's mission; a proactive, hands-on strategic thinker who will own, in partnership with the CFO, the responsibility for finance.
3. Minimum of a BA; CPA and/or MBA preferred.
4. Solid experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and accounting for investments.
5. A track record in grants management as it relates to compliance and reporting of government, corporate and foundation grants is essential.
6. Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors; advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software.
7. Commitment to training programs that maximize individual and organization goals across the organization including best practices in human resources activities.
8. A successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organization and problem solving skills which support and enable sound decision making.
9. Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
10. A multitasker with the ability to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment.
