Job Details

We are seeking a motivated candidate who will be responsible for delivering Construction Management Services. The Construction Manager position is to support our client in Los Angeles.

The candidate will lead, manage, and supervise assigned construction management activities. The position requires an effective team leader who works cooperatively to deliver the program on time and on-budget, meeting the quality standards per the technical specifications and in accordance with LA Metro.

The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work as a full-time Construction Manager for Transit and Rail Projects in the LA areas.

Job Duties:

  • Review contract solicitation packages and recommend, for client consideration, construction proposals to be considered for award
  • Coordinate the work with all contractors and confirm that program deliverables conform with the technical specifications and respective contract provision
  • Coordinate the timely processing of submittals, Requests for Information (RFI), potential change orders (PCOs), transmittals, and change orders
  • Resolve and effectively communicate construction issues in a timely manner to maintain program on schedule and budget
  • Supervise the site inspection team and manage the site inspection and QA testing and inspection program
  • Review contractual documents and contract modifications to determine scope of work and scope changes. Escalate concerns to the Program Manager
  • Provide technical and cost analysis support. Review requests for changes submitted by the construction contractors and make recommendations for acceptance;
  • Review and recommend approval of contractor invoices
  • Assist the Program Manager with the closeout of construction contracts
  • Coordinate with the Program Manager Lessons Learned Report
  • Provide on Site Leadership to the Construction Inspection Team and supervise the contractor's activities

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, project management, construction management, business, or related field.
  • 15+ years of demonstrable experience management large construction projects and the proven ability to be a successful construction team leader.
  • Transit and/or rail experience is REQUIRED
  • Proven ability to manage complex budgets and schedules and deliver projects safely to the required level of quality.
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • Working skill in operating computer equipment, software programs and field inspection equipment; read and interpret transit rail, roadway, bridge, and structure plans and contract specifications; maintain detailed records, and communicate effectively with agency, contractor personnel and the public.

Valid Drivers License

Preferred Qualifications:

A PMP, CAPM, or CSCM and /or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification is preferred but not essential.
PE license is preferred but will consider experience and other applicable certifications.
Scheduling software proficiency (P6) or knowledge is a plus.
Relocation assistance is available for this position.

This is a site-based role in the LA area and remote working is not an option.
