Position Overview:
This is a full-time role for a Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) Engineer at Spirit Electronics located in Phoenix, AZ. In this role our CCA Engineer will play a vital role in the production of high-reliability circuit cards and printed circuit board assemblies (PCBs) on Spirit's automated assembly line. The CCA Engineer will design files and programming for automated machinery and operate Spirit's circuit card assembly projects. This role requires attention to detail, technical expertise, and the ability to develop operations for a manufacturing business unit.
Essential Job Functions:
- Design and review files and process for circuit card assembly projects based on customer specifications
- Oversee assembly process for circuit cards, including solder application, pick-and-place machine, reflow oven, deionized wash, and automated and manual inspections
- Develop and execute operating protocols for the CCA line
- Develop CCA operations through process improvements, training, and team expansion
- Ensure assembly processes and outputs meet or exceed industry standards, quality control procedures, and product safety
- Validate production outputs, performing testing, inspection, and rework as needed
- Maintain detailed documentation related to designs, work orders, procedures, and inspection and test results
- Collaborate with program managers, lab, and warehouse for assemblies, testing, and inventory management
- Support operational safety and product safety procedures in an electronics manufacturing environment
- Perform routine maintenance for assembly line machinery and equipment
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in circuit card assembly, aerospace, or related field
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or a related field
- Advanced degrees or technical certifications are a plus
- Knowledge of and experience working to aerospace and defense industry standards and regulations, such as AS9100, IPC, and MIL standards
- Proficiency in PCB design tools, soldering techniques, and circuit testing
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex circuits and develop effective solutions
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in both design and assembly processes
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present technical information clearly
- Knowledge of personnel and product safety practices, including electrostatic discharge control and FOD control
