Description

The Chief Estimator is expected to lead the estimating portion of the preconstruction process. This requires an individual who has high attention to detail and delivers estimates with great accuracy in short timelines. The idea candidate will have extensive knowledge of building construction with Federal Contracts, materials, systems, and market conditions.


Duties:

??? Develop Clear and accurate scope documents and bid packages for designated work divisions.

??? Perform quantity take-offs, analysis, estimates, and studies for all items incorporated in the assigned scope

??? Ability to estimate Lump Sum pricing.

??? Review drawings, specifications and all other construction documents, making note of any risk involved

??? Responsible for the value engineering process during preconstruction for the assigned projects

??? Ensure strict adherence to safety, Quality, ethics and compliance requirements at all times

??? Develop and enhance subcontractor and vendor base nationally.

??? Analyze and assemble cost data, unit prices, historical costs, and information that can be developed and used as a database for future conceptual estimates.

??? Evaluate and analyze subcontractor proposals

Negotiate with subcontractors during buyout.

??? Complete knowledge of the estimating documents and the ability to provide accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis of the documents

Must be computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications Word, Excel, Outlook, Project

Manage an estimating department and direct subordinate estimators and develop their skills.



  • Minimum of10 year's construction estimating experience. 5 of which must be in a senior role.
  • Excellent communication skills with a strong math aptitude.
  • Experience with federal government projects and FAR regulations.
  • Experience in Federal build/design work.
  • Able to work with speed and accuracy.
  • Experience in conceptual estimating and design build a must.
  • Strong business communication and leadership skills.
  • Understanding of the influence of market conditions on pricing.
  • Proficient with Excel spread sheets, and Word processing programs.
  • Experience with commercial Estimating software.
  • Experience with R.S. means and eGordian software.
  • Experience with Federal contracting required.

Preferred:

  • B.S. in Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering, preferred.
  • Familiarity with construction project management software is a plus.
