Job Summary:

Voyager is searching for a Chemical Engineer to join our innovative, dynamic, and agile team at our Colorado research and development facility near Colorado Springs. In this role, you'll help develop new chemical manufacturing processes and support scale-up efforts aligned with our mission to reshore defense-critical domestic manufacturing.

This is a hands-on role that works closely with experienced engineers and skilled technicians to take systems from concept to test to operation. Practical experience with chemical and manufacturing equipment is strongly preferred.


Responsibilities:


  • Support the engineering team in developing technical solutions supporting the establishment of a new chemical manufacturing facility.
  • Design, build, test, and help commission chemical process equipment.
  • Translate process requirements into equipment specifications; support vendor identification, procurement, and factory/site acceptance in instances where existing industrial equipment meets schedule, cost, and performance requirements.
  • Develop unique solutions from first principles in instances where existing industrial equipment does not meet requirements, working with our skilled technician team to bring systems from the drawing board into reality.
  • Identify, communicate, and track engineering risks and mitigations; identify engineering opportunities and help implement improvements.
  • Communicate effectively through written, verbal, and presentation channels; explain technical concepts in simple terms to non-technical audiences.
  • Contribute to safe execution of projects on schedule, within budget, and to required quality standards.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • 1+ years of hands-on chemical engineering experience (internships qualify).


Preferred Qualifications:

Process & Manufacturing:

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment (especially chemical manufacturing).
  • Experience taking a process through design, testing, iteration, and scale-up.
  • Working knowledge of mass and energy balances, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and common unit operations employed in chemical manufacturing.
  • Experience with electrochemistry, evaporation, crystallization, dewatering, drying, and/or packaging operations.

Controls & Tools:

  • Exposure to industrial automation (instrumentation, PLCs, communication).
  • Experience with process modeling (Aspen, ChemCAD, MATLAB, or custom tools).
  • Experience with CAD (especially SolidWorks).

Hands-on:

  • Basic chemical laboratory experience (synthetic or analytical chemistry).
  • Construction or fabrication experience (professional or personal).

Working Style:

  • Self-starter with a track record of taking initiative and ownership.
  • Team player with a track record of developing solutions collaboratively.

  • Candidates must meet the eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain State and Federal explosives licenses. Requirements include:
    • Must be at least 21 years of age
    • Ability to pass State and Federal background checks
    • Ability to obtain and maintain applicable State and Federal explosives licenses

The pay range for this role is:
70,000 - 115,000 USD per year(Pueblo, CO)
