Essential Duties and Responsibilities
(Including the following, however, additional duties may apply as required)
Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner
Set up and operate burn table equipment using fuel gas and plasma cutting processes
Set up and perform bevel cutting using fuel gas bevel cutting tips
Set up and burn structural shapes and three-dimensional parts in accordance with work instructions
Perform oxygen piercing as required for cutting operations
Set up, adjust, and operate CNC programs for cutting operations
Calculate and adjust cutting speeds based on material type, thickness, and tooling requirements
Adjust burning setup to minimize dross buildup and ensure parts meet quality and welding requirements
Read and interpret drawings, shop orders, and work instructions to complete jobs to specification
Verify correct quantity and cut quality of parts produced
Perform first-piece and random dimensional inspections using measuring instruments and gauges
Document inspection results and manage quality documentation as required by customer specifications
Use measuring tools and gauging devices to monitor work in progress and verify final product dimensions
Identify and report quality issues, equipment concerns, or process improvements to supervision
Maintain burn table equipment, tools, and work area in a clean, safe, and serviceable condition
Work collaboratively with supervisors and team members; take notes, ask questions, and provide input to improve processes
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required
Minimum of 3 years of experience operating burn tables or similar cutting equipment
Experience with either fuel gas cutting or plasma cutting required; experience with both preferred
Program editing experience preferred
Ability to read drawings and use measuring tools to verify part dimensions
Physical Demands
The employee is required to stand for extended periods throughout the workday. Job duties require frequent reaching, kneeling, and use of hands and arms to operate equipment and tools. The position may require moving or transferring materials using overhead cranes, forklifts, or stand-up equipment. The ability to lift up to 50 lbs. is required on an occasional basis. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
