Position Description

The Asphalt Milling Machine Ground Man is essential to the continuous operation of the milling crew. The Ground Man is responsible for adjusting grade on the milling machine to ensure proper depth is obtained. The Milling Machine Ground Man will assist laborer, operators, and truck drivers throughout the entirety of the milling process. On the Milling crew, you will work closely with other crew members to safely mill existing asphalt for specific projects.

Job Duties:

  • Assists in shoveling, sweeping, and lifting milled asphalt.
  • Adjusted grade on milling machine.
  • Works safely alongside mill, paver, shuttle buggy, and screed.
  • Works as a Flagger to direct motorists and pedestrians when needed.


Position Requirements

  • Ability to meet physical demands of the job including standing for long periods of time.
  • Must have a basic understanding of mathematical equations.
  • Must be able to work weekends, night shift, and overtime when asked.
  • Must have reliable transportation and the ability to commute to job sites.
  • Must pass drug screen and physical.
  • Must comply with criminal background check.
  • Understands end of season layoffs are possible.
