The Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC) seeks a qualified individual for the Actuary 3 - Supervisor position. This role is within the Rates, Forms, and Provider Networks (RFPN) Division and is based out of our Tumwater Office.

The duties of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Review and take actions on the rate filings submitted by health insurance carriers and perform actuarial work for financial analyses and financial examinations of domestic health insurance carriers.
- Review and take actions on the rate filings submitted by health insurance carriers and perform actuarial work for financial analyses and financial examinations of domestic health insurance carriers.
- Performing calculation of reserves of domestic health and disability insurance carriers.
- Discussing findings with the financial examination team and carriers and writing actuarial reports.
- Supervising and directing health and disability actuarial analysts.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree involving major study in actuarial science, economics, mathematics, statistics or a closely related field,
AND
Membership in the American Academy of Actuaries,
AND
Seven (7) years of professional health actuarial experience.
Degree must be from an accredited institution whose accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council of Higher Education Accreditation or a foreign equivalent may be substituted for relevant experience. Proof of degree may be required prior to employment. If a degree was awarded outside of the United States, candidates must provide a credential evaluation report.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
- At least five years leading actuarial staff or serving as an actuarial team lead/supervisor.
- At least three years of individual and small group ACA health plan rate filing review or pricing experience.
- At least two years in financial examination of health insurers or in actuarial statutory reserving and financial reporting.
